"Tea is a gentle reminder to slow down and savor the moment."

And there is no better place to savor a cup of tea than in the world of elegance that is Afternoon Tea service in The Lobby of The Peninsula Chicago {108 East Superior Street, Chicago; 312.337.2888}. Nestled in the heart of the city, this luxurious escape offers a refined setting where every moment (and sip!) is meant to be savored. And now, that experience is one for the whole family!

Thanks to their summer “Art of Tea” programming, The Peninsula invites young Afternoon Tea connoisseurs to embark on a educational journey with a series of hands-on experiences during Afternoon Tea service. Through August 17, families with children can take part in a series of entertaining and educational opportunities to explore The Art of Tea. Each session is designed to transform teatime into a moment of self-expression for young tea-drinkers and their families.

Remaining sesssion themes for the summer are:

Session: It's Time to Plan a Tea Party

Future event planners are guided by Jennifer Clarke, Peninsula’s long time Director of Catering and Conference Services, as they make place cards, create a floral and tea-inspired centerpiece, and more. Ms. Clarke will also share insights into tea options as well as tea etiquette with her promising planners.

Dates: July 13, July 20, July 27

Session: Calling All Budding Artists

Young Chicago artists will love this one! A tea setting is presented on canvas featuring Peninsula’s mascot, Peter Bear, and participants are guided on how to bring their Afternoon Tea masterpiece to life.

Dates: August 3, August 10, August 17

While the children expand their artistic horizons for an hour, the rest of the family will be sitting nearby enjoying a refreshing beverage. Then, following the educational time, children rejoin their families to enjoy a full Afternoon Tea experience.
