The Best Spots in Chicago for a Stiff Drink (for when you need it most)

via Lone Wolf

We’ll have a strong drink with a side of ambiance please! Here are our favorite places to grab some heavy pours to quench your thirst (or just when you' really need one!)…

Ceres Cafe {141 West Jackson Boulevard,Chicago; 312.427.3443}

If you find yourself in the Loop, Ceres Cafe is the perfect pit stop. After work, before the train or just a week day adventure might lead you to this fun patio. They describe their own drinks as “hefty” so you know the pour is heavy and the vibes are good. In a list of places with stiff drinks, this bar sits at the top!

Lone Wolf {806 West Randolph Street, Chicago; 312.600.9391}

With lofty ceilings and moody décor, Lone Wolf is a low key West Loop gem. During hot summers like this, we have a special place in our hearts for a cool spot that knows how to make a spritz.

Refresh with a Spring Spritz w/ Grey Goose—Grey Goose Essences Watermelon, Aperitivo, lychee, and Prosecco. The experience here pairs well with all of their flavors, and boy do they pack a punch.

via Scofflaw

Scofflaw {3201 West Armitage Avenue, Chicago; 773.252.9700}

In this rustic-style corner bar, you’ll find moody lighting, and a Gin lovers dream menu.The Super Saturn is what we’re ordering: Letherbee gin, passion fruit, falernum, coconut, orgeat, lemon and cinnamon.

Pro-tip: If you’re out for a late night, Scofflaw has a Late Night Combo special after 11 p.m.—a burger, fries and a happy hour cocktail all for $26.

Gibsons Bar & Steakhouse {Multiple Locations}

It’s ‘tini time at Gibsons Bar & Steakhouse. Besides being known as a Chicago steakhouse classic, Gibsons serves up the martini of martinis. Next time you’re in the mood for a drink this one is sure to keep you busy for a while. Get dressed up to sit back, relax and enjoy a meal that will keep you full and tipsy in this upscale classic spot.

Handlebar {2311 West North Avenue, Chicago; 773.384.9546}

A neighborhood bar with good food and even better vibes. Grab a seat in the Beer Garden out back and enjoy a fun afternoon while you nosh on vegetarian and vegan food that everyone will love.

A Beermosa, Allegah White with OJ, will do the trick here; but if you’re looking for spirits, go with the Agent Scully, a light and refreshing ginger and lemon-infused vodka with lime, simple syrup and soda.

We are reserving a seat and ordering The Zombie Cobbler: Amontillado Cherry, Monymusk Overproof Jamaican Rum, grapefruit cordial, pomegranate molasses, cinnamon, ginger, clove, and Absinthe. Make your reservation here.

Bisous {938 West Fulton Market, Chicago}

This menu is the chef’s kiss of bars—Parisian inspired. You’ll fall in love with the warm and chic ambiance and you’ll be here to stay for martinis-galore. The adorable seating is perfect for date night or a night out with gals in Fulton Market.

Our go-to drink is the L’Jardine, an Aqua Perfecta Basil Brandy, CH Vodka, and Cocchi Americano floral, layered for an extra chilled drink.
