Fresh Dishes on Chicago’s Spring Menus
Though the weather hasn’t quite warmed yet, spring in Chicago is peaking its head out with welcoming changes like longer days of sunshine and new seasonal menus. The coming thaw means fresher ingredients, brighter flavors and plenty of delicious dishes to enjoy while Chicago opens up again. We can’t wait to dig in!
The Kitchen {316 North Clark Street, Chicago; 312.836.1300}: A riverside restaurant that prides itself on a focus on local, fresh sourcing should be at the top of your list for warm weather dining. The Kitchen is back in action for the season with not-to-miss dishes like Grilled Broccolini with lemon and miso or the classic Cast Iron Roasted Chicken with hand-cut fries and black truffle cream.
Galit {2429 North Lincoln Avenue, Chicago; 773.360. 8755}: The suburbs can take advantage of Galit’s amazing menu this spring with pick-ups of their menu in HInsdale and other locations. Dig in Brisket Hummus, Falafel, and Challah Bread Pudding from the comfort of home!
Cupitol Coffee & Eatery {multiple locations}: This coffeehouse is known for its baked goods and breakfast dishes, but you should also stay for dinner! You won’t want to miss out on their Falafel Burger or the Chicken B.L.T.A. (chicken, bacon, lettuce, tomato, guacamole, country white).
French Quiche {2210 North Halsted Street, Chicago; 773.857.0097}: When was the last time you had a really good quiche? They’re not all breakfast buffets and frozen appetizers! There’s no better example of this than the menu at French Quiche in Lakeview. Every quiche is created with precision and care, and the Sweet Pea Quiche or Quiche Savoyarde (asparagus, wild mushroom, swiss cheese) are perfect for a lazy weekend meal.
LYFE Kitchen {multiple locations}: Almost everything on the LYFE menu screams spring, but for the ultimate light and bright meal, we recommend pairing their Lemon Garlic Shrimp Bowl (keto-friendly!) with a Blueberry Oat Smoothie. They’re both full of fresh ingredients and beautiful colors that will look as delicious on your Instagram feed as they taste during each bite.
Picnic Wine & Provisions {7301 North Sheridan Road, Chicago; 773.856.0000}: Create the perfect spring picnic with items from this wine shop and store! You can get everything from groceries to unique wines to local coffees and make your own feast. Just be sure to include a few of their Sheekar Delights Baklava no matter what else you order!
Haisous Vietnamese Kitchen {1800 South Carpenter Street, Chicago; 773.999.1800}: Haisous uses only the freshest of ingredients so you can bet your plates of Vegetable Curry, Bun Bo Hue (Vietnamese rice noodle soup) and Caramelized Fish Sauce Fries will be packed with unique flavors. This Pilsen eatery is much-awarded and a fan favorite so you’ll be part of supporting what’s shure to be a Chicago icon.
