It is impossible to do any type of cafe roundup in Chicago without featuring Ukrainian Village’s famed Kasama. As the world’s very first Michelin-starred Filipino restaurant Kasama is a must visit Chicago establishment, especially if you’re looking for truly authentic Filipino flavors. Their daytime menu of freshly made pastries and every Chicagoan's favorite breakfast sandwich is served on a first come first serve basis, so prepare to arrive early to avoid lines and the possibility of pastries running out! Cafe Yaya {2431 North Lincoln Avenue, Chicago}
They may be the new kids on the block, but the team behind Lincoln Park’s Cafe Yaya are no strangers to the Chicago restaurant scene. Their Michelin starred sister restaurant, Galit, is located right next door, and those who’ve had the opportunity to dine there are sure to expect great + delicious things from Cafe Yaya’s new opening. As of now, the cafe offers a breakfast menu in the form of house-made, seasonally rotating pastries & coffee as well as a full dinner and drinks menu. Be on the lookout for their brunch and lunch menus debuting soon, so you can enjoy Cafe Yaya all day long. (Cafe open Tues-Sat from 7:30am-2pm)

Old Town’s newest addition to Wells Street brings a fun ‘all day cafe’ vibe, starting with coffees, pastries and breakfast during the day and changing to wine, cocktails and appetizers in the evening. Dialtone is every early riser’s dream cafe, opening at 6am on weekdays and 7am on the weekends. They keep things local by sourcing all coffee pours from Chicago's very own Metric Coffee Roastery and all morning croissants, danishes and loaves from the sourdough connoisseurs over at Bad Butter Pastries. Beatrix has remained a staple in the Chicago food scene for years, with four locations throughout the city and one location in the western suburb of Oakbrook. While they feature delicious menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Beatrix’s in-house bakery and coffee bar is where it’s at. Think signature, homemade cookies the size of your hand, muffins, rolls & breads made in-house daily as well as an abundance of signature + seasonal coffee beverages made with Beatrix’s own beans! Enjoy all your fresh breakfast delights in Beatrix’s sunlit, plant filled interiors or on the patio at their Loop, Fulton Market or Oakbrook locations. (Hours vary by location)

Step back in time at Humboldt Park’s Spinning J Bakery & Soda Fountain, where the quaint interior and vintage furniture (using almost all reclaimed and repurposed materials) will instantly transport you to a simpler time. Sip on parlour sodas with house-made syrups and coffees from Chicago staples like Big Shoulders & La Colombe while sampling freshly baked pastries and savory breakfast entrees. Make sure to save room for their rotating daily pie slices for dessert and arrive early because seating is both limited and first come first serve! (Open Wed-Sun from 9am-3pm)

Chicago’s west suburban restaurant scene has been on the up & up over the years, including their cafes and coffee shops. Sparrow Coffee has been making waves in Naperville thanks to its exceptionally crafted coffee beverages and consciously sourced ingredients in their pastries + food. Sparrow’s idyllic location right along the Naperville riverfront, a sleek, industrial design and artisan-crafted walnut tables make it a perfect space for working remotely or meeting up for coffee with friends! The Goddess & Grocer {Multiple Locations}
The Goddess & Grocer is much more than a cafe, it’s a one stop shop for specialty coffees, fresh pastries, breakfast, lunch, wines, grab-and-go foods and gourmet gifts. It’s almost impossible to leave Goddess with only what you came for!
They are always highlighting new and rotating seasonal coffee & food specials, and their normal menu offers an expansive selection of classic cafe sandwiches, salads and soups as well as gourmet desserts and customizable cakes. The Goddess & Grocer Bucktown boasts a huge 2nd floor dining space and outdoor patio, perfect for lunch breaks and remote workers, while Goddess Fulton Market & Gold Coast offer limited seating areas and are more focused on grab-and-go orders during the work week. Nothing welcomes in springtime like finally being able to enjoy your morning meal on a patio! Milk & Honey has been serving up breakfast staples, sandwiches, freshly made pastries, house granola, coffee + more for over 20 years in Wicker Park. All of their gourmet foods can be taken to-go but are best enjoyed on their spacious patio that remains open all year long thanks to a roaring fireplace! (Open Daily from 8am-5pm)
