What to Eat, Drink, See & Do in July

GIoia Chicago

With Fourth of July weekend already in the rear view mirror, summer is flying by in that amazing and exciting way that only a Chicago summer can. We have to make the most of what’s left! Whether you want to relax on a patio, try the latest and greatest in Chicago food, or take advantage of the many festivals on the summer calendar, there’s a summer activity for one and all in the Windy City. What are you looking forward to most in July?

Do Date Night at The Taste of NoMI: The Japanese Dining Experience {July 12}

Make your move quickly on this delicious evening - It’s coming up quickly! The newly reopened Park Hyatt restaurant is kicking off its “Taste of NoMI” dinner series with this meal guided by NoMI Executive Chef Terence Zubieta & Breakthru’s sake expert Tona Palomino. It includes a 6-course tasting menu that spans the full breadth of Japanese cuisine, including Karaage Chicken and Aburi Beni Toro, a rich salmon belly lightly charred by an open flame and finished with a whiskey barrel aged soy sauce. There will also be curated wine & sake pairings, making it the perfect weeknight date.

Relax with Gioia’s Aperitivo Menu

If you haven’t tried Gioia in the West Loop yet, plan your visit for this summer. Their patio is intimate, their food is delicious, and the team will work tirelessly to bring you joy (it’s what “gioia” means in Italian after all!) Their Aperitivo Menu includes bites like Pizza and Calamari Fritti as well as discounted wine and cocktails and is available for a limited time so enjoy while you can!

Dig in to the New Jeni's “At the Pool” Flavors

It can’t really be summer if you don’t have a scoop (or pint) of ice cream on a warm, sunny day! Jeni’s Ice Cream is always a good choice but especially when the temperature creeps up, and then you’re going to want a pint of Bombastix Sundae Cone ice cream (double vanilla cream with gooey fudge and chocolate-covered waffle cone chunks). Our other favorite is their Dairy-free Lemon Bar - Both are perfect for the pool!

Celebrate Summer Fridays at Beatrix {Every Friday from 8AM-3PM}

Summer Fridays are back at Beatrix! You can start your weekend early with brunch favorites like their Bacon, Cheddar & Egg Sandwich, Baked French Toast and more every Friday at Beatrix in River North and Fulton Market. Skip out of work early and enjoy a Friday feast, complete with a Fresh-Squeezed Juice, Bloody Mary or Beatrix Espresso Martini!

Take a Big Bite of Roscoe Village’s Burger Fest (July 15-17)

We’re always in the mood for a good burger, and if we can eat burgers from EPIC Burger, The StopAlong, Reggie’s Chicago, and more… there’s nothing more to say. As far as street fests go, this is one you’ll want to grab with both hands!

Hit Up Lollapalooza {July 28-31}

Come on, you know we have to mention this one! The biggest music fest in Chicago is coming back to Grant Park for four days of singing, dancing, eating and reveling in Chicago summer 😎 Come for one day or all of them, and enjoy everything Lolla has to offer. It’s a must-visit at least once for every Chicagoan!
