Take a Tour of Latin America at These Chicago Restaurants

via La Luna

We are crazy for Latin American cuisine all around, from Mexican to Peruvian to Brazilian, we love exploring all the goodness in these cuisines! Luckily, the Chicago food scene offers an impressive tour for your tastebuds, made by some seriously expert chefs. Here are a few of our latest finds and long-time favorites….

La Luna: Mexico {1726 South Racine, Chicago; 312.248.8957}

If you’re looking to support women and minority owned businesses—grab your margaritas here! This modern take on Mexican food has us over the moon. We especially love La Luna for its burst of color the moment you walk in. And then each plate is like a reflection of the restaurant itself — vibrant and flavorful. And once you try their Quesabirria, your taco order will never be the same ;) La Luna brings a taste of fire and flavor to add to the blossoming multi-cultural Pilsen neighborhood.

Bodega Sur: Argentina {3755 North Southport, Chicago; 773.904.8656}

Authentic Argentinian food can be hard to come by, but Bodega Sur puts this delicious food on the map and makes it feel local. Head to Southport for a glass of wine in this homey, farm-to-table space. Two items we simply can’t resist are the Choripan and the Berenjena En Escabeche—both are rich and filling to pair with delicious wine. We brunch at Bodega too—the Chilaquiles are a must-try, and we always add steak.

via Tanta

Tanta: Peru {118 West Grand Avenue, Chicago; 312.222.9700}

This summer you might find yourself drawn to Tanta’s patio. And for good reason! This place has happy hour DOWN with cocktails and rich Cebiche Limeño among other treats on special from Monday through Friday. Even outside of Happy Hour, the Peruvian menu offers a wide range of empanadas plus both hot and cold traditional dishes. There are also plenty of options for the vegetarians out there… Pretty much, it would be hard not to find something you’ll love ;)

via Carnivale

Carnivale: Brazil / Pan-America {702 West Fulton Market, Chicago; 312.850.5005}

If you’re a fan of experience meals—we know just the place. Carnivale is a multi-level entertainment space with Brazilian cuisine and fire drinks (some are even LITERALLY on fire). Their space is decked out in patterns, colors and themes that make every trip here unique. Try their Coconut Shrimp to start and then pick a protein - all their meats cooked on open flame are packed with flavor. Bring your team here for a wild time to bond or your next birthday!

Polombia: Colombia {15 West Washington Street, Chicago}

Polish Sausage or Empanada? You don’t have to choose just one here! Polombia is a unique concept of blending traditional foods from Poland and Colombia. You won’t find dishes like these anywhere else! Co-Owners Cynthia Orobio and Chef Phillipe Sobon are husband and wife and foodies that love their culture, but love them even more when they’re combined! We love foodie families, and you will too; Order delivery if you don’t have time to stop in!

Irazu: Costa Rica {1865 North Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago; 773.252.5687}

B.Y.O.B. and park it here all summer long for fresh air and the “Pura Vida” experience. Once you visit for the first time, Irazu will become your go-to for a casual afternoon of empanadas and other shared plates. If you don’t bring your own booze, you can still keep the summer tropical with a Piña Colada pitcher just sweet enough to want more. We also LOVE their milkshakes!
