And that means it’s time for Fourth of July parties and cocktails by the lakefront 🇺🇸 This upcoming holiday weekend is always one of the high points of the summer season, full of fun in the sun at Windy City restaurants and bars. These spots are always finding new and fun ways to celebrate summer in Chicago, so get your stars and stripes ready for a fun weekend ahead…
Bub City {Chicago and Rosemont}
Both locations will be open on the Fourth of July holiday, and are a perfect place to get all up in your red, white and blue! Bub City’s Chicago location will also have live bands on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday nights, plus a DJ brunch on Saturday and Sunday. Starting your day of celebrating with Bacon Waffle with Nashville Hot Chicken Bites, some brews and great music is the perfect way to spend a holiday!
Summer House Santa Monica {1954 North Halsted Street, Chicago; 773.634.4100}
If you’re looking for a more low key day out on the Fourth, this Lincoln Park spot is your dream taste of summer without crazy crowds. Alongside their regular dinner menu, their secret, rotating “Summer Mondays” menu featuring brunch specials will also be available from 11AM - 3PM. Treat yourself to a special meal in the summer sun… then head home to watch the fireworks from your own relaxing patio!
Goddess and Grocer {multiple locations}
The Goddess Rainbow Cake is famous all year long, but you can ONLY get their amazing Flag Cake and cookies in the days leading up to the Fourth of July. All Chicagoland locations, including their newest Fulton Market store, will have these specialty desserts available while supplies last throughout the holiday weekend. All stores will also have limited hours on Monday, July 4 if you need to pick up last minute BBQ foods like kebabs, liquor or snacks!
Sweet Mandy B's {multiple locations}
If you’re spending the holiday weekend at a party at home, you’re going to want to have the best treats around! Sweet Mandy B’s is always one of our favorites for baked goods and this weekend, they’ll have festive specials like Confetti Cookies and Rice Krispies, Sweetie Pie Cookies, a 6" Three-Layer Red, White and Blue Watercolor Vanilla Cake and so much more. It’ll be tough to choose your favorite from all this goodness!
Velvet Taco {multiple locations}

The views at Offshore are always spectacular but this is THE spot for fireworks views and celebratory fun this weekend 🎇 Right at Navy Pier, heading here on Saturday, July 2 will mean you have perfect views of the fireworks on Saturday night! If you don’t make it this weekend, make reservations for any other Saturday or Wednesday night this summer to bask in the sparkly glow.
