Our Team’s Top Patios & Rooftops Right Now
April showers bring May patios…. Or something like that? The arrival of spring already has us (im)patiently waiting for Chicago patio season to arrive as well… Take a look at some of our team’s favorite patios to soak up the sunshine in so you can be outdoors ready in no time!
Robyn:
The Welcome Back Lounge {2423 North Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago; 773.825.2800}
A no frill no fuss backyard patio filled with quintessential 90s folding chairs, mismatched tables and a full service camper van bar! This “welcoming” Logan Square patio is bright, funky and instantly puts me in a relaxed mood every time I’m there.
Volo Restaurant + Wine Bar {2008 West Roscoe Street, Chicago; 773.348.4600}
More intimate courtyard than a full fledged patio, Volo is the ideal place for a quiet evening of wine tasting. They also offer amazing drink deals, like Wine Flight Wednesdays and a full Spritz Happy Hour menu - I am a huge sucker for a patio happy hour!
SUNNYGUN {664 West Lake Street, Chicago; 312.600.0600}
With a name like SUNNYGUN, it should be a no-brainer that they have a bright + bubbly patio scene. It’s retro, trendy and a little detail I especially love is the variety of seating options they offer; like picnic tables, stadium style seats and lounge chairs. Prepare to spend hours relaxing here!
Kaleigh:
Roots Handmade Pizza - South Loop {744 South Dearborn Street, Chicago; 773.645.4909}
I live in Printer's Row and love having such a cool rooftop patio right in my neighborhood! This spot is SO fun all year long, but especially in the summer months. I bring visitors here a lot so they can have one of my favorite dishes: the famous Roots Mozzarella Sticks!
Lonesome Rose - Logan Square {2101 N California Ave, Chicago; 773.770.3414}
Back when I lived in Logan Square, Lonesome Rose was a regular hangout and it's still a spot I come back to visit again and again. Their rooftop is slightly tucked away, so it always feels intimate and fun! I have even been to a wedding here - It's perfect for any occasion.
NoMI Garden {7th Floor, 800 Michigan Avenue, Chicago; 312.239.4030}
For a more elevated experience, or when I really want to impress someone, NoMI Garden is a STUNNER. It's right off Michigan Avenue so it's super convenient for visitors, but it doesn't feel like you're right off Michigan Avenue. It's just so relaxing and beautiful!
Laura:
Aba {302 North Green Street, 3rd Floor, Chicago; 773.645.1400}
When I’m in the West Loop, this is my go-to rooftop. Great views, delicious bites, and a reasonably priced wine selection; what’s not to love?!
Piccolo Sogno {464 N Halsted St, Chicago; 312.421.0077}
This is absolutely one of my favorite patios in Chicago. Who doesn’t want to eat delicious Italian food in a garden filled with trees?! It’s completely hidden off the street and feels like an oasis in the middle of the city.
Emma:
Parson’s Chicken & Fish {2952 West Armitage, Chicago; 773-384-3333}
Another hit from The Land and Sea Dept! Parson's Chicken and Fish is a classic backyard vibe where I can bring my child, drink a Negroni slushy and eat fried chicken. What more can a cool mom ask for on a Sunday afternoon?
Z Bar {108 East Superior Street, Chicago; 312-573-6888}
Z Bar at The Peninsula Hotel was created for the perfect girls' night out. It combines a casual-meets-swanky Chicago scene with stellar skyline views. Round up your squad for some Tuna Tartare, Caviar Potato Bites, and a sweet DJ set inspired by the global fusion they do so well!
Bistro Champagne {4518 North Lincoln Avenue, Chicago; (773) 271-6100}
This hidden French gem in Lincoln Square might steal your heart and become your go-to for date nights. Their ivy-covered brick walls and looming foliage enhance the rich spot-on French fare like escargot and beef bourguignon. Order the bottle of red you deserve and get ready to be transported. Merci!
