Not Going Out of Town for Labor Day? Head Here Instead…
Labor Day Weekend is almost upon us and that means two things: an extra day off of work and (cry) the beginning of the end of summer. While we all wish we could pack up and head to a lake house or a European yacht for the dwindling summer days, some of us sadly just don’t have that option! We are here to help you make the most of your LDW right here in our beautiful sweet home Chicago. With options like these, your out of town friends might just wish they had stayed around after all (wink emoji)...
Offshore Rooftop {1000 East Grand Avenue, Chicago; 312.535.6660}
Wanting to be by a lake for LDW but don’t have a lakehouse of your own? Offshore has you covered. Its prime rooftop location next to Navy Pier provides unbeatable views of Lake Michigan and the city skyline. Whether you choose to take in the views for daytime drinks & lunch or come later on for beautiful sunset views, Offshore is always a party. Their sheek rooftop deck always comes complete with fun “yard” games like cornhole & giant Jenga! Gather your crew, get your sunnies on, and head to the city escape that is Offshore Rooftop.
*PSA: OFFSHORE WILL BE CLOSED SAT. 9/3 FOR A PRIVATE EVENT*
Daisy's Po-Boy & Tavern {5215 South Harper Drive, Chicago; 773.675.8767}
Calling all Southern food, drink & music lovers – newly opened Daisy’s Po-Boys in Hyde Park has a chair with your name on it. This funky tavern comes from award-winning Chef Erick Williams, owner and chef of the famed Virtue restaurant just across the street. This New Orleans-inspired menu pays tribute to Chef Erick’s late Aunt Daisy – a master of Creole & Cajun cuisine. With flavor-packed food, creative cocktails, full service bar & live music, Daisy’s brings Southern hospitality to the Southside of Chicago.
Central Park Bar {2924 North Central Park Avenue, Chicago; 773.698.6063}
Slightly off the beaten track, Central Park Bar is a remodel of a classic neighborhood tavern that added a brand new, full-service bar outside on a year-round patio. This bar is perfect for a casual hang with friends, inside or outside; and don’t worry, your furry friends can enjoy the patio as well! This Labor Day (Monday Sept. 5) Central Park Bar will be offering a $8.50 drink deal for beer & shot combos starting at 8PM. This is the perfect place to keep the party going alllllll the way to the end of the long weekend!
Avli Pop Up Above Castaways {1603 North Lake Shore Drive, Chicago; 773.281.1200}
If you’re a lover of all things Greek, then you're probably familiar with the beautiful Avli restaurants. Lucky for you, Avli now has a limited-time FOURTH location as a pop-up at the famed North Avenue Beach boathouse, Castaways. Located on the 6th floor of Hotel Robey in Wicker Park, this poolside bar will give you serious vacation vibes. If it wasn’t for the stunning 180 degree views of the city skyline, you might even forget you were still in Chicago. And the absolute best part about the Cabana Club–you don’t even have to be staying at Hotel Robey to enjoy the bar and pool. It’s open to everyone!

Tired of seeing all of your friends’ pictures frolicking around Europe while you’re stuck at home? Come to Chateau Carbide, located on the roof of the Pendry Hotel, for a little slice of Paris in Chicago. Think French countryside, garden setting, while sipping on Champagne and snacking on signature sushi dishes. And to top it off, Chateau Carbide also hosts live music DJ sets every Friday & Saturday night as well as Sunday afternoons.
Lottie's Pub {1925 West Cortland Street, Chicago; 773.489. 0738}
Alright you trivia lovers, this one's for YOU. Lottie’s has been gracing the corner of Winchester & Cortland since 1934 (yes you read that right) and although it’s notorious for being a boisterous college bar, not many people know about their amazing Team Trivia held every Monday from 7-9PM. For Labor Day, they are pulling out all the stops and DOUBLING the prize amounts for winners plus providing deals on Truly buckets & Sam Adams pints. Party on, trivia teams!
