Cocktail Spotlight: Monteverde’s Emilia

Want to impress your holiday guests with an extra delicious cocktail this year? Then you have to make one that’s Chicago hot spot-approved! Monteverde {1020 West Madison Street, Chicago; 312.888.3041} in the West Loop has been a must-visit for Chicagoans and visitors alike since it opened its doors. That is of course due to the cozy and creative Italian eats, but also thanks to the amazing beverage program that compliments their menu. The Emilia cocktail is a fan favorite, and their team shared the recipe with us so we can all act like expert bartenders this holiday season. Cheers, Chicago!

  • 2oz Lot 40 Rye Whisky

  • 0.5oz Fred jerbis bitter

  • 0.25oz Strawberry Puree*

  • 0.25oz González Byass Oloroso Sherry

  • 4 dashes of Peychaud's Bitters

  • 4 dishes of Bittermens Bitters Elemakule Tiki

Combine all ingredients over ice and stir until well-blended. Add your favorite stand-out ice cube to a rocks glass and strain cocktail into rocks glass. Garnish with Luxardo Maraschino Cherry and serve!

  • Strawberry Puree is made by combining strawberries and half the weight of the strawberries in sugar. You then cook it down until it is a syrupy texture, and strain off the excess strawberry.
