Brunch Spots to Check Off Your Windy City Bucketlist

In a town where there are brunch spots on basically every corner, I can’t help but wonder...how are you supposed to choose where you’re going to get mimosa tipsy with your girls, have the best avocado toast in the city or discover the setting with the most Instagram-worthy backdrop? Just ask us, of course! We’ve compiled a list of the most noteworthy brunch spots to visit this season.

Bar Siena {832 West Randolph Street, Chicago; 312.492.7775}

If you like to have choices, and those choices are mostly comfort foods like Spicy Chicken Sandwiches, Lobster Rolls and pizza, then head to this classic West Loop spot STAT. Known for their awesome drinks and cool vibes, Bar Siena is a go-to for almost everyone that lives west of downtown. After your meal, take a walk on Randolph and check out all the West Loop has to offer.

If you can’t get away this winter, let your food take you on a vacation! With Peruvian-inspired eats like Shrimp and Choclo (grits) - aj amarillo topped with sautéed shrimps, andouille sausage, shishito peppers, fried egg or picarones (the Peruvian version of a donut), you’ll start believing you can see Machu Picchu from your seat. Just like the name suggests, Stax has a stockpile of breakfast items to choose from. With items like Cinnamon Roll Waffles (comes in a stack) for the sweet lovers, and the Lumberjack Skillet for anyone who wants a savory dish, everyone at the table will want a bite of each. If you want a laid back lunch spot, with a variety of things to choose from, head to one of Stax two locations in Little Italy or River West.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve heard of or have been to a Yolk location. With so many brunch destinations in the city, you still can’t overlook quintessential Chicago spots like Yolk. When you stop by make sure to get the Banana Bread French Toast and the seasonal Caramel Apple Chai-er, chai tea mixed with hot apple cider and caramel. We also highly recommend checking out their Test Kitchen in Bucktown if you like to taste the latest and greatest in breakfast food.

If you want breakfast with a view, look no further. NoMI Kitchen, known for their floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook Michigan Avenue, is also the perfect spot for amazing brunch food, especially if you want to impress friends and family that are coming in for the holidays. With classics like Steak and Eggs and Buttermilk Pancakes, as well as sushi choices for brunch, you can make all your foodie dreams come true. Plus, snap a great pick in all that natural light!

Rye Deli + Drink {25 South Halsted Street, Chicago; 312.602.2100}

Rye Deli +Drink, recently named one of Chicago Tribune’s 10 Best Bagels in Chicago, is now serving weekly brunch. The West Loop Jewish-inspired deli will provide traditional brunch items with a twist. The new menu consists of items like Chicken and Waffles with matzo meal-crusted chicken, pomegranate-molasses butter and citrus-maple syrup. If you’re tired of the typical eggs benedict and buttermilk pancakes, get a meal you can’t get anywhere else in the city at Rye’s Deli + Drink.

Rumored to have some of the most unique dishes in the city, our obsession with avec is nothing new, but their brunch menu sure is. This Chicago favorite (with an almost cult following), is bringing their inventive interpretations of brunch classics to their River North and  West Loop locations. Inventions like Wood-oven Baked French Toast with fresh ricotta, blueberry compote and almonds as well as Brioche Donuts with sea salt and vanilla bean, will make this your new favorite spot.
